If you blend the cult classic movies, The Warriors, with a graphic book style, you end up with something like Quickspin’s upcoming game, Slugger Time video slot. Wher, the heart of the action, goes down underground in the Slugger St subway station. And as the name applies, it’s told that. “Violent masked street gang are wreaking havoc under the streets of the big city”. Meaning, don’t say we didn’t warn you before, as the game includes anarchy, chaos, and punches from all directions. However, the mood lightens with a splash of dark humour. Yet, the content supplier, Quickspin, describes the title as. “Slightly sinister but also amusing, anything can happen in this dystopian noir satire”. So, let’s figure out if the Slugger Time video slot that plays on 5-reel, 3-row, on 20-paylines is anything for you?

Slugger Time video slot – Bonus Feature

Chicken Siege free spins are the name Quickspin gave the bonus game. That quite expectedly triggers via 3 scatters on reels 1, 3, and 5. Now, here is where the fun and personal choice comes into play. Basically, after triggering the free spins bonus game, the player needs to pick 1 option from 4 possible ones. And are as follows, “fight 1” 12 free spins with wilds adding 2x, or 3x. And “fight 2” has 9 free spins with one pinhole up in multiplier (3x, 4x). Then there is “fight 3,” which offers 6 free spins with 4x and a 5x wild multiplier. Or are you a gambler to your core and like to get surprised? Well, in that case, pick “fight 4,” and you randomly get anything between 6 to 20 free spins. But also a random wild multiplier of 2x to 5x.

Side note about the bonus feature

Also, a quick mention that might pique your interest in the Slugger Time video slot. Is that all the multiplier wilds are sticky throughout the bonus game. Plus, if your market allows, you can, of course, pass the scatter triggers and go directly to the free spins bonus game. Moreover, and unfortunately, this option will set you back 75 x your current bet size. So, be vigilant about what you can afford. Still, you also get the 4 different fights to pick from like you would have triggered the frees pins via the regular 3 scatter way.

Symbols and Scatters

Let’s bat for a home run straight away and start with the trigger and feature symbols. Multiplier wilds: a capital W on a golden coin. The Fight Scatter: a fist with a brass knuckle saying “bonus”. Fight Picker: a selection of 4 fighters. Wher 3 were a chicken mask in different coloured clothes. At the same time, the random “fighter 4” has a clown mask and bare upper torso. Also, the Chicken Seige free spins wild multiplier: a man with a bat and a rabbit’s mask that also includes the different X multiplier value. For the Medium Win Symbols: a rabbit mask with blood stain, chicken with x’d eyes, crazy clown, a brass knuckle. Plus, a broken bottle and nunchucks. Low Win Symbols: Ace, King, Queen, Jack. And finally, a 10. Which concludes the complete selection of symbols in the Slugger Time video slot from Quickspin.

The real spin experience of Slugger Time

Off we go underground as we spin our 100 test spins for £1. The small wins were quite frequent from the onset, giving us some doubt about the reported volatility. And about halfway in, the more noticeable wins of 2 to 4 £ trickled in. And that was about our experience during the real spin experience of the Slugger Time video slot. In the end, after the spin count settled at 0, we walked off the game grid with a slightly more posetive account balance. And if we purely base the 100 test spins on previous experiences, the volatility gears more towards medium-high than high. But let’s see what the final verdict is in June.

Our thoughts on Slugger Time video slot

Usually, when Quickspin releases a new title, the math model, or more precisely, the return to player (RTP), comes in many variations. However, the Slugger Time video slot only comes on a 96% RTP. But what does this mean? Is Quikspin not confident with the title? Or are they just testing the waters with the slightly twisted theme, and if it’s a fit for the brand? We don’t know, but needless to say, Slugger Time is still a great video slot if you favour a multiple-option free spins bonus game. And also wilds and multipliers on a dark and sinister theme.
