Congratulations to all your British heavy metal fans, Saxon just got their video slot. However, it’s not only a visually well-paired themed video slot. As the soundtrack blasting in the background includes some of Saxon’s rainmakers. This includes Wheels of steel, Princess of the night, and Heavy metal thunder to mention 3 of the 8 available tracks. By which you can either personally pick, or randomly shuffle. All in all, the theme is extremely well thought out and features such things as an overflow of stack symbols. This, in return, will boost your multiplier by 1 every time a stacked reel lands, and this happens a lot. Also, the game grid of 5-reels and 4-rows that wrap nicely in fitted themed graphics truly lending its present to lift Saxon as a whole. Basically, a fan of the 80s and its rock music, this video slot will absolutely enlighten your day.

Saxon video slot – Bonus Feature
Back to basic and scale it down with Saxon and its features. Meaning it fits to only include free spins as the bonus feature. Which triggers by the 2 scatter symbols. First, we have the singer Peter Rodney “Biff” Byford himself. And secondly what triggers the free spins is the motorcycle symbol. As such, combine these 2 symbols on reel 2 and 4, and you win a random 5 to 15 free spins. Moreover, during the bonus round, the free spins can once again trigger with the same attributes. Plus, the multiplier system also incorporates in the free spins. But with one big difference, they don’t reset after every spin, as they do in the base play. want a more in-depth explanation, all you need to do is continue reading the next section.
Symbols and Scatters
As promised, the multiplier works on straightforward mechanics. The main base feature is stack symbols which also includes as explained in the free spins. The general idea is as simple as it is brilliant. Hit the reels with stack symbols, and the multiplier increases by 1x. Though, if the stack symbols are wild, it increases by 2x. And this can happen on all the 5 reels at once. As far as the pick of symbols, we have the wild, depicted by the Saxon logo and a sword and shield. For the higher paying range Play’n GO decided to include an S marked leather jacket, Eagle logo that featured on many albums, and a crusader helmet, linking directly to the 1984 album release. And in the mid to low selection, there are a star, heart, spade, diamond, and clubs. Sure, entirely predictable but in the end, fitting to the overall composition.
Our thoughts on Saxon
Don’t think we have seen such a well designed heavy metal rock-themed video slot since NetEnt released Guns and Roses. In fact, we believe that Saxon caters better for the intended 80s rock fan audience than Guns and Roses ever did. Yes, it’s raw and not as flashy as the previous mentioned. But that’s the point, the 80s were more bare-bones and moved with a direct purpose. As such, making our top list of themed slots, that is worth a spin. Additionally, Play’n GO markets this video slot as high in volatility. But it has to be on the low end of that scale, leaning more to the medium to the high side. And if you haven’t figured it out by now Saxon is excellent and has good potential to rise to the top amongst its competition.
