Last time, if we are not mistaken, iSoftBet launched a relatively decent fish-themed video slot was in early 2020 with its Fishin For Gold video slot. However, the Ocean Hunter video slot is an entirely different kettle of fish this time around. Said to include, and we like to point out that we are checking out an early August release; as such, some attributes and numbers may differ from the live version. So, it said to include things like better odds to trigger the main bonus game; free spins. Situated on a 4x reel-set, 20-payline on each configuration while spinning, your free spins. Plus, a randomly triggered event, “Wild Frenzy”. That is not only adding up to 4 wilds but also, when optimal conditions appear, multipliers get into the mix as well. So, all in all, iSoftBet might be on to something half decent on this try.

Ocean Hunter video slot – Bonus Feature
The rise of effect-full but straightforward bonus games is quite predominant in the industry right now. Where Ocean Hunter video slot from iSoftBet also follows the previously stated path. Basically, land 3 scatter (radar sonar image), and you get to experience the 15 free spin bonus games. Which will transport you to a new set of 4 reels with only 1/4 available game grids “unlocked”. And to unlock the remaining 3 free spins areas, you collect symbols (scuba diving tanks). Where the goal is to collect 10, 20, and 30 tanks to free the rest of the game grids. Plus, every time you unlock a new set of reels, an entire reel turns wild, in the order 5, 4, and 3. Moreover, you also get 2+ free spins upon freeing a new game grid. Also, any visible scatter symbol grand 3+ free spins.
Market specifics
Additionally, if your market allows, you can buy the bonus feature and/or attach “extra bait” to a 50% bet increase to get better odds of feature triggers.
Side note about the bonus feature
The wild frenzy feature is a random bonus game in the Ocean Hunter video slot. Meaning, that any spin may trigger the extra game turning the game grid into a feeding feast for the wild sharks. In essence, the wild shark symbol attack already situated symbols and turn them into wilds. But also, should the shark attack the same symbol more than once, a 1x win multiplier adds every time. Yet, there is a 5x maximum multiplier attached. In the end, a reasonably decent randomly triggered event that keeps the Ocean Hunter video slot interesting.
Symbols and Scatters
Belive we never mentioned the appearance of the wild symbol? In any case, it’s naturally the Apex predator, a shark biting down on the text wild. Also, the regular top paying symbol is a shark followed by a diver and what looks to be a freediving spear gun huntress. And as we go further down the list and start to reach the midsection, we find a treasure chest and finally a pearl and gold artefacts symbol. As for the lower inclusion, we have the regular ace, king, queen, jack, and 10. And that’s it, folks, no more, no less.
The real spin experience of Ocean Hunter
With our standard £1 bet size on 100 test spins, we braved the waters and steeled ourselves to face off with the sharks. Where our first 22 spins rewarded us with a total of £3.50. But then we hit the free spins game and unlocked all 4 game grids on the last free spin. It means 2 more tries with a complete game grid. Resulting in a “Jawsome win”. When all the free spins saw finalisation, we saw a £253.75 win, wow. Now, exiting the free spins bonus game in the Ocean Hunter video slot, the reels had somewhat cooled down. Yet returning some decent wins on occasion. And all things considered, after the 100 real spin experiences were over, we saw a 20% account balance increase.
Our thoughts on Ocean Hunter video slot
So, what are our verdict and final thoughts about the Ocean Hunter video slot? As of now, we are missing some data points to render a reliable judgment fully. Still, what we can say is if all the mechanics, payouts, volatility, and other functions stay the same for the live environment, the Ocean Hunter video slot could make its way up the food chain of shark or fishing-themed video slots. Also, with the scaled-back appearance of the ace to 10 symbols, the mid to higher section symbols do make a striking appearance. And, in this instance, really lend their presence to improve the experience. To summarize, the Ocean Hunter video slot is a great title that has the necessary mechanics and features to make it to the middle of the general video slot pack. But, as a fishing-themed video slot, it will make a bigger splash.
