Recurring for most video slot producers year after year is returning to the neon light-filled 80s. Where some releases manage to find an instant connection with their intended audience. On the other hand, we have also seen some dumpster fires hit the market as well. So, the question is, are ELK Studio’s attempt, Night Trax video slots part of the first or latter? Well, in just a few minutes, after you finished reading our full review of the said game, you can form your own opinion. And as a teaser, we can already now reveal that Night Trax has some great out-of-the-box thinking applied to it. As well as some exciting mechanics attached. For instance, this ELK Studio title is one of few that doesn’t include a free spins game. But, let’s stop wasting time and get down to business, and more importantly, is the Night Trax video slot any good?

Night Trax video slot – Bonus Feature
The main bonus game in the Night Trax video slot is the now-classic 3 re-spin feature. And as normally, after you land at least 3 bonus symbols, the re-spin starts. That, yes, re-set to 3 every time a new symbol connects. Plus, also featuring is an arrow connecting the different multiplier symbols that in return also transform into a multiplier value symbol. Sure, it might not be the most exciting bonus game in the history of bonus games. But it fits the theme and overall atmosphere perfectly. Also, as the Night Trax video slot includes the X-iter option, you are always just one click away from the bonus game. That, of course, if your market allows it.
Side note about the bonus feature
Free spins are not in the Night Trax video slot bonus feature as we normally see. Although, this doesn’t mean that the games provider altogether removes the opportunity to hit it big. In fact, we will even say that removing the free spins option actually has created some positive buzz. Where ELK Studios instead has put focus on re-spins and multipliers. But also introduced some extremely exciting, namely diagonal wins. And before you say, hey, that’s not new, patience as the symbol inclusion has everything to do with the previous statement. But, let’s quickly explain the re-spin feature. Basically, on every spin, if a winning line of at least 3 symbols forms, which can start anywhere, you get free re-spins on the house. And this continues as long as there is a connection. But, on to what we like to think, the most exciting symbol revealed this summer, so far.
Symbols and Scatters
Night Trax has a collection of 6 symbols in total, well this if we disregard the multiplier and arrow symbols from in the bonus game. But back on point, and its symbols that are no more than ordinary arrows, or horizontal and diagonal paylines. Yet in an arrangement of value starting with the right-pointing selection. First, a triple arrow (purple), double arrow (green), a single arrow (blue). This is followed by the 2 diagonal payline symbols, yellow and red, and, of course, a wild arrow that substitutes any direction mentioned. Now, the clever mechanism allows the user to connect the same colour arrows in any direction as long as the “flow” is constant. That can also break a line to start a new direction called “Splits” by Elk Studios. It might sound simple and perhaps a bit insipid, but no, Night Trax is great fun and something completely unique.

The real spin experience of Night Trax
More typical than not, we staked £1 on 100 spins and crossed our fingers, hoping for lady Fortuna to make an appearance. Where it all kicked off relatively well with multiple free re-spins time after time. And actually, already after 25 spins, we could boast with a 5.6% balance increase. Unfortunately, though, just when we thought that the lucky lady entered our realm, the door slammed shut in her face. When we hit a dry spell, we felt that it was going on forever, and we are not going to sugarcoat it. And even if the game round was highly engaging and fresh like a summer breeze as we on 4 occasions caught 2 bonus symbols on the 3 first reels, we never managed to hit the last one for the complete experience. Nevertheless, the overall feeling we left with was satisfaction, despite the -5.3% outcome.
Our thoughts on Night Trax video slot
In the genre, the 80s or neon-styled games, there are a handful of great titles. Where we think that Night Trax video slot definitely will fit in. And we have to admit; it’s not often we get sucked into the theme this fast as we did with this game. Moreover, even if the gameplay is nothing special, the diagonal and what we like to call “flow connection” truly adds a new dimension to what sometimes can feel like a very flat experience. Especially with the scaled-back feature or bonus library that this title holds. Yet, we always promote self-critical thinking, so form your own opinion by giving this video slot some spins at one of our recommended online casinos.
