When NetEnt unveiled Dark King: Forbidden Riches, they said, “Something wicked this way comes,” and they were right. Indeed, Dark King: Forbidden Riches is undeniably one of the most twisted tales the studio released. In fact, this slot seems to come straight out of Paris’ catacomb with skull surrounding the play area and garnishing the forsaken king’s throne. Perhaps NetEnt was inspired by Halloween to conceptualize this slot. The mysterious classic soundtrack and the October 8th release date leads us to believe it could be the case.

Nonetheless, since Dark King: Forbidden Riches boasts a free spins bonus with sticky wild and wild win multipliers. It means the gameplay can entertain those who seek a medium to high variance slot all year around. So, let’s breakdown the features into more details. This way, you’ll know more about this 20 paylines slot, which can award as much as 2,000x stake.

Dark King: Forbidden Riches video slot – Bonus Feature

When it comes to online games of chances, generally speaking, the core of the action unfolds in the side bonus game. However, since the main game of Dark King: Forbidden Riches offers wild multipliers (up to 5x). It means any spin could award significant payouts, especially because each wild win multiplier (a blue orb) will increase the multiplier value. Plus, when the symbols land in view, they’ll reveal a hidden multiplier ladder below the reels. And by the way, this feature is also in play during the free spins bonus, which you’ll trigger with 3+ red Scatter ruby symbols.

In the side game, the minimum amount of free spins you’ll play is 10. But if you get 4 Scatters its 12 free rounds, you’ll trigger. 5 Scatter symbols, on the other hand, award 15 free spins. During the bonus, it’s possible to win more free games by increments of 1.

Symbols and Scatters

By now, you already know that the red gemstone is the Scatter symbol. Plus, it comes with no payout as such. However, the wild blue orb does. It’s the highest-paid symbol of the paytable awarding 25x stake for a 5-of-a-kind. And it can also award increasing multiplier as you’ve read above.

But, it’s worth knowing that the wild blue orb comes with another particularity. Its unique properties will unfold in the free spins bonus when it lands on the hot zone (the cross displayed in the game’s background). Indeed, getting a wild orb to land on the cross will instantly award you 1 extra spin.

And this as the symbol remains on the reels (sticky wilds) for the totality of the bonus. In total, there 5 hot spots to fill-up. In other words, you can trigger a maximum of 20 free spins in the bonus if you’re very lucky.

Our thoughts on Dark King: Forbidden Riches video slot

All and all, Dark King: Forbidden Riches boasts a certain level of innovation like we’ve rarely seen in NetEnt’s Halloween-themes slots. This is, of course, highly attributed to the dark theme the provider used for this release. But it also has a lot to do with the unique math model this game offers. With that said, there’s a certain “je ne sais quoi” about the slot that may remind you of some of NetEnt’s greatest hit games like Guns n’ Roses and Hotline. Indeed, some of the features feel like they were inspired by these 2 games to create something different.

Dark King: Forbidden Riches was a fun game to test. Sure its maximum win might leave some wanting more, although it’s playable with a casino bonus. Nonetheless, Dark King: Forbidden Riches is a solid 20 paylines slot that can deliver good adrenaline rushes when you’re on a lucky streak.
