Astro Newts Megaways video slot – Bonus Feature
With most upcoming slots, the features are not only rewarding but also plentiful. As such, we will briefly mention them all in the side note. So, as for now, let’s focus on the free spins, and it functions in a boiled-down version. Basically, it all hinges on a symbol collection system and, as such, upgrading you as you spin the reels. All in all, there are 5 levels or planets to visit. Still, to trigger the initial 8 free spins, you first need to land at least 6 scatter (fuel tanks) in one paid spin. Moreover, any 4 fuel tanks that land during the free spins get you 4+ spins but also a trip to a new planet. Included in the places to visit are the Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and finally Uranus, for the full and complete megaways 235,298 expansion.
Side note about the bonus feature
The brand new feature we promised to explain is the Mega Fission. Essentially, any winning symbols that occupy 2 to 3 reel heights get split into 2. With the knock-on effect, more ways to win. Also included in Astro Newts: megaways are another random feature, Pig on the Moon, that can happen on any spin. Where the space pig could distribute up to 2 expanding wilds or 4 regular wilds. Plus, the expanding wild feature may also happen without the Pig’s help. But it only occurs on reels 2 to 6 and comes in the shape of capital W in Astro Newts: megaways.
Symbols and Scatters
On the lower end of the symbol selection, we see the traditional ace to 10 symbols; all dressed in some slime of sorts. In the next brackets of symbols, we have all future space-inspired symbols, including an asteroid, laser gun, and rocket-boosted engine. Leaving only the 2 top-paying ones, which are naturally the 2 space travellers. After that, we only have the feature symbols left, regular wild, a spaceship, clearly marked. Followed by the expanding wild, capital W in green. Then the regular fuel cell symbol, which covers in gold. Next, a blue alien holding a fuel cell, named “alien super fuel,” and values as 2 normal cells. Finally, the Pig on the moon symbol, a sleepy pig in a glass-looking breathing apparatus.
The real spin experience of Astro Newts Megaways
As Astro Newts: megaway is, yes, a megaway title, we thought that the stake size over the 100 spins should be £1. And this is how it went. The first 10 spins gave us some scattered wins here and there, but nothing astronomical. Then on spin 25, we hit the “pig on the moon” for a £30 win. However, after the feature win, it took until spin 50 for any more real action, yet pleasantly surprised with a £ 20 win. After that, even if we didn’t hit the big payout, we still got some wins of importance. And, after all 100 spins ended, we stopped on an outstanding and positive account balance of plus 3.5%.
Our thoughts on Astro Newts Megaways video slot
It’s always a positive experience when Iron Dog releases a new title. And we have to say, it was good fun and overall thrilling, as most megaways titles. Unfortunately, though, if we had a prediction to make, Astro Newts: megaways video slot will fight a bit to encaptivate the broader audience; why? It’s a somewhat narrow theme seeking out the player looking for a cartoon-looking space theme adventure with the megaways mechanics. Still, a great title if you want to try something new. And as this is an exploration game, we will not spoil the fun of revealing all the attributes in Astro Newts: megaways. That´s for you to find out when you play the new game at one of our recommended online casinos.
